Homemade Soft Pretzels

Classic Soft Pretzel πŸ₯¨ Recipe
Makes 8 Pretzels

Ingredients for the Pretzel Dough
1 1/2 cups of warm water
1 tbs. Of light brown sugar
2 tsp. Of salt
2 1/4 tsp. Of active dry yeast or 1 whole packet
4 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
4 tbs. Of melted butter

For the Baking Soda Bath
10 cups of water
2/3 cups of baking soda

For egg wash
1 egg yolk
1 tbs. Of water
Note: I used melted butter

Topping
Sprinkle coarse salt

Combine the water, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl. When sugar and salt are dissolved sprinkle the active yeast on top. Let sit for 5 minutes or until foam forms on top.
Add the flour and butter to your yeast, use a hook attachment to mix on low speed. Combine all ingredients increase the speed to medium and knead until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl about 4-5 minutes.

Your can also mix the dough with a wooden spoon until it comes together and knead it by hand.

Place the dough in a clean oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap place in swarm place for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Preheat over to 450 line your baking pans with parchment paper.

Combine the water and baking soda in a large pot. Bring this to a boil.

Divide your dough into 8 equal pieces, roll out each piece to about a 24” rope. Make a U shape cross the ends twice and bring them to a Pretzel πŸ₯¨ shape.
With a slotted spoon, place 2 at a time in the baking soda bath for 3o seconds.

Place on parchment brush with either the egg wash or melted butter and sprinkle salt on top.
Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
This recipe was easy and the pretzels were delicious.
